Nine million Nigerian children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS which has so far killed 850,000 Nigerians, the Chairman of the National Action Committee on AIDS, Professor Babatunde Osotimehin told federal permanent secretaries in Abuja yesterday at the launching of a new federal government policy on the disease.

Professor Osotimehin said that about 430,000 new infections occur in Nigeria every year.
