School AIDS Day 2009

The annual School AIDS Day mass was held at Ave Maria College, Aberfeldie, in early August. This year’s theme was Working Together, Sharing the Challenge.

The Deputy Director of Catholic Education, Nancy Bicchieri, launched the event and Father Tony Kerin said the Mass at Our Lady of the Nativity Church.

Ms Bicchieri said “Like many issues in our society, HIV/AIDS is a whole-of-community issue that everyone needs to address. The world needs young people who are educated about the disease.” She said. “Let us not forget that this issue is truly an international concern and often difficult because we are challenged by the inequality, stigma and discrimination that still surrounds it.”

School AIDS Day in 2010 will be held on 5 August.
