Camp Seaside 2004 Report

Camp Seaside has come and gone for another year. This is something that many of us look forward to and wait with anticipation for it to come. This year it rained, hailed and blew a gale. Not that it bothered us in the least. Our houses were toasty and warm.

We couldn’t have had better volunteers. Michael (our children’s activities co-coordinator and chief) kept the children busy with fun activities, beach walks and games.

Phil and Richie helped to entertain all the kids and were an absolute delight to be around. Our heart felt thanks goes to them for the fantastic job they did. And let’s not forget our lovely Ann and Shirley. It was lovely to have them back at Seaside again!!

Saturday morning rain and all, the first group went horse riding and despite the cold weather had a great time. Those who stayed behind went to the local shops, caught up with friends they hadn’t seen for ages and shared cups of coffee on the balconies.

Bec and I had enough food to feed a battalion, so the adults feasted and chatted, spending time relaxing, enjoying our peaceful environment.

After all the riding had finished, everyone had changed and showered, a hot roast dinner awaited us. Our night was spent house hopping, spending time with each other.

After a leisurely Sunday morning breakfast, massage began. This was perfectly timed for those who braved the weather to go horse riding. Our friends Leila and Rene gave most of us a well deserved massage.

After our massage we had our traditional BBQ lunch, which was held in the shed due to the rain. This was a wonderful opportunity to thanks the volunteers, the campers and staff for making our weekend such a success. We also celebrated Juliette’s birthday!!!

The group this year was very mixed, some new families attended as well as our old faithfuls. This weekend camp is of great importance to positive families.

It provides us with the opportunity to rest, enjoy the company of others in the same situation, for our children to play in a safe, fresh place and for us to realize that life is precious and we should live it to its fullest.
